The Songpoet follows the story of folk singer-songwriter Eric Andersen, who has written songs recorded by Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, the Grateful Dead and many others.
He was at the vanguard of the Greenwich Village folk music scene of the 1960s and positioned to be a rising star of that movement. But in a five year period, he found himself a victim of improbable circumstances that changed his trajectory. His story is finally being told. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A!
Eric Andersen’s voice, songs, guitar and piano playing created a career that has spanned over 45 years. He has recorded 25 albums of original songs, and made numerous tours of North America, Europe, and Japan.
In recent years, Lucky Fonz III has become one of the Netherlands’ best-known and most appreciated songwriters and live acts, both at home and abroad. With the success of his previous record ‘Hoe Je Honing Maak’ (which included the top-10 hit ‘Ik Heb Een Girl’), he reached a wide and varied audience in the Netherlands.
Thanks to intensive tours in America, Australia, South Africa, Italy, Denmark, Switzerland, Spain, England, Canada, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, Lucky has also acquired a dedicated international fan base. His English-language album Life Is Short became a modest hit on American college radio and reached number 56 on the CMJ charts.
Raised in a musical family Inge Helena explored various aspects of music. While she was a psychology student at the UVA she interviewed bands for cult tv, later on, she wrote for Heaven music magazine, OOR, and Bo & Lupa. She booked, managed, and traveled with several artists and bands. Based in Amsterdam she travels the world in search for authentic sounds, festivals, and music gatherings. Her passion for music brought her to live in Austin Texas for a while and whenever possible she attended SXSW and the jazz heritage festival in New Orleans. In 2008 she initiated and researched a documentary about music venue The Paradiso that premiered at the IDFA. Ever since she is a moderator for music films at IDFA and excited to join the IN- EDIT team, a festival with documentaries where her love for music, film, and psyche are all coming together
