We have selected four short films from all the submissions we have received under the Dutch Music Documentary Short category. We are happy to have a space in the festival for shorts and new makers, come and check them out!

We will screen the following films on a row and the filmmakers will be present for a Q&A at the end.

Diggin’ Demos

One musician. One collector. Two worn-out demo tape cassettes. Diggin’ Demos is a film about tracing and preserving forgotten music treasures and stories. Stories from the period of the 70s and 80s, when the invention of the music cassette enabled musicians to release their music by themselves.

Now based in Bucharest, Romania by way of Amsterdam, Brooklyn, and a few other places, Steve is the communications manager and industry editor for documentary magazine Modern Times Review (Oslo/Bucharest). He is also the documentary correspondent for the Romanian film platform, Films in Frame Magazine. Prior to his relocation to Europe, he was the co-founder and senior editor for the New York-based indie film magazine IndieWood/Hollywoodn’t. Not to be outdone with film, Steve is also a music journalist specializing in electronic and dance music. He was editor in chief of the Deep House Amsterdam platform and has written for the likes of Crack Magazine, Magnetic Magazine, The Wire, and more.
