Live Q&A with the director Harro Henkemans
Already counting a sold-out in Amsterdam, Weggewist is the story of Hans Henkenmans, famous Dutch pianist, composer, and psychiatrist, who spent his entire life in search of ‘the essence’ of music. He got caught in the middle of a heated debate in the 60s, as his ideas about “actual” music clashed radically with the contemporary experimental music movement.
This film tells the unlikely tale of how two Welsh farming brothers turned their dairy farm into one of the most successful recording studios of all time, producing four decades of legendary rock music. Rockfield’s reputation spread like wildfire, quickly garnering international acclaim, from Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, and Queen, to Simple Minds, Iggy Pop and Robert Plant, and later Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Manic Street Preachers, and Coldplay – some of the most legendary rock bands of all time.
Introduction video by director Julien Temple
After multiple sold-outs in Amsterdam, we’re glad to be bringing our gem of an opening film to The Hague! Raw, shameless, and fearless, Shane MacGowan’s songs are a reflection of his life in which alcohol, God, redemption, and romance are interwoven and made him who he is. Frontman of the Pogues, his view of the world, his sense of humor, and great knowledge of history, spirituality, and popular culture is all captured in the powerful lens of Julien Temple.
