Finding Joseph I. The HR from Bad Brains Documentary

Director James Lathos
USA, Jamaica / 92 min. / 2016 / English / English subtitles

From being the most charismatic and electrifying figure of American hard-core at the helm of Bad Brains, H.R. would end up living on the streets. This is a feature documentary about the eccentric life and struggles of the punk rock reggae singer.

Free, alienated, or a bit of both? Friends, fans and the man himself endeavour to unravel a life journey propelled by a talent for performing that was as monumental as his Rastafarian mysticism. And all torpedoed by schizophrenia.

It will be followed by a cine forum with Jacob Kollar.

Jacob Kollar is a local scriptwriter, who since moving to the Netherlands from Australia, has worked at developing creative content for the corporate sector. However, with a background in communication science—in particular film studies, he has a passion for documentary story-telling, and with this background, he can appreciate and critically engage with the finer details of the craft.

An all-round creative, Jacob also arranges music events in the city and, from time to time, contributes articles to local English language media sources. .
